Mustached Clubtail
Gomphus adelphus
The Mustached Clubtail (Gomphus adelphus) primarily occurs in the northeastern U.S. as well as southeast Canada, but it also ranges south along the Appalachians rarely as far south as North Carolina and Georgia. The female shown here was photographed along the Ottawa River at Fitzroy Harbour, Ottawa Co., Ontario, Canada. The next two shots of a male were taken on the Petawawa River, Renfrew Co., Ontario, Canada. These first 3 shots were taken in July, 2005, with a Canon EOS 1D Mark II and EF 300mm F/4 L IS lens with a 2X extender and 580 EX flash.
The male Mustached Clubtail shown here was found along the Androscoggin River, Oxford Co., Maine, in June, 2010. This shot was taken with a Canon EOS 1D Mark IV and an EF 300mm F/4 L IS lens and 2X extender and 580 flash.
The female shown here was along the Machias River in Washington Co., Maine, in June. 2010. The same photo gear as the image previous was used for this shot.
