The Golden-winged Skimmer (Libellula auripennis) is a bright orangish dragon of the southeast U.S. ranging west to the prairies. The male in the first shot here was a digital capture in May, 2003, in the Angelina National Forest in Angelina Co., Texas with a Canon 10D and EF 300 mm F4 L IS lens and a 1.4X extender and 550 EX flash. The next shot was taken with the same equipment at the same location, but in June, 2003.
