Eastern Red Damsel
Amphiagrion saucium
The Eastern Red Damsel (Amphiagrion saucium) is a tiny damselfly of the eastern United States and occasionally as far west as the Dakotas and Oklahoma. It is visually very similar to the Western Red Damsel (A. abbreviatum) and care is needed to separate them in areas of overlap. The first 3 images on this page are all of males and were taken near Caledonia, Houston Co., Minnesota, in July, 2004, with a Canon EOS 1D Mark II and EF 300mm F/4 L IS lens and 2X extender and 550 flash.
