| The Big Bluet (Enallagma durum) is a damselfly that occurs from Texas, around the Gulf of Mexico, up the Atlantic coast to Maine. This species typically inhabits brackish water near the coast, but it is also known from some locations well inland where there is some degree of salinity to the water. It has been found as far inland as Tennessee. The first seven images on this page were taken on the shore of Lake Sam Rayburn, San Augustine Co., Texas, in April, 2011, with a Canon EOS 1D Mark IV and a Sigma 50-500mm lens and Canon 580 flash. The species is visually similar to Familiar Bluet (E. civile), but larger in size and has quite different appendages. A mature male is on the right. |  |
