| The Banner Clubtail (Gomphus apomyius) is a dragonfly of the southeastern United States. It ranges west to far east Texas. It is usually encountered in the spring and prefers small, shaded streams with sandy bottoms. The first two shots here show a teneral female which was found along Indian Creek in Jasper Co., Texas, in March, 2008. We saw several males, but I was not able to get any images of the males on this occasion. These two shots were taken with a Canon EOS 1D Mark III and EF 300mm F/4 L IS lens and 2X extender. |  |

| The male Banner Clubtail in the next 2 shots was perched on the edge of vegetation over a swiftly flowing area of the creek. |  |

| There are probably few if any shots of a Banner Clubtail in flight so I was pleased to get this images even if it is not 100% sharp. |  |

| This female Banner Clubtail posed nicely for a few minutes on vegetation just over the creek. |  |
| The next nine shots of Banner Clubtail were all taken in Jasper Co., Texas, in March, 2011, with a Canon EOS 1D Mark IV and a Sigma 50-500mm lens and Canon 580 flash. The first eight shots show males while the 9th shot shows a female. |  |
