The Arroyo Darner (Rhionaeschna dugesi) is an uncommon dragon of the western United States, occurring from the American Southwest into Mexico. It is visually very similar to Blue-eyed Darner, but has different appendages. The two shots here, of the same perched male, were taken in the Davis Mountains of Jeff Davis Co., Texas, in June, 2005. The shots were taken with a Canon EOS 1D Mark II and an EF 300mm F/4L IS lens with 2X extender and 580 flash. | |
