The Common Muskrat (Ondatra zibethicus) is an aquatic rodent that occurs across most of North America. It inhabits freshwater or brackish marshes and waterways where it feeds on aquatic vegetation. The first three shots on this page show a muskrat carrying nesting material to a nest site at Westchester Lagoon, Anchorage, Alaska, in May, 2012. These shots were taken with a Canon EOS 1D Mark IV and an EF 500mm F/4 L IS lens.
