Saban Anole
Anolis sabanus
The Saban Anole (Anolis sabanus) is endemic to the tiny island of Saba in the Netherlands Antilles. I was fortunate to visit friends who lived on this island on two occasions, in July, 1998, and July, 2001. While there I was able to get a few shots of this endemic lizard. These shots were all taken with a Canon EOS 3 and EF 300mm F/4 L IS lens and 1.4X extender and 540 flash in July, 2001. I have not been able to find much about this reptile on the Internet, but some information is available here for those interested. The shots of the spotted animals are Saban Anoles. There is one shot of a more plain gray anole at the bottom right. I do not know if this may be a young or female Saban Anole, or some other species. I welcome any comments about its specific identification. Thanks!
