Land Iguana
Conolophus subcristatus
The Land Iguana (Conolophus subcristatus) is an endemic reptile of the Galapagos Islands off the coast of Ecuador. It was formerly more widespread on the islands but is now only encountered in a few locations. The shots on this page were taken in July, 2007, at Urvina Bay on Isabela Island with a Canon EOS 1D Mark III and EF 100-400mm F/4.5-5.6 L IS lens. Like most animals on the Galapagos, these giants (up to 4 feet long) show no fear of man.
The next six images of Land Iguana were taken on Plazas Island in the Galapagos in August, 2010, with a Canon EOS 1D Mark IV and a Sigma 50-500mm lens.
