Green Anole

| The Green Anole (Anolis carolinensis) is a small lizard which is widespread in the southeastern United States from Virginia through the southeast to the eastern half of Texas. This species may be colored from bright green to dull brown depending upon where it is found and individuals have the ability to change color fairly quickly. The anole in the two shot at rights was photographed in March, 2004, in Austin, Travis Co., Texas, with a Canon EOS 10D and EF 70-200 F/2.8 L IS lens and 2X extender. This anole was busy foraging among some old prickly pear cactus pads; note the cactus spine stuck in its chin, a hazard of this habitat. The shot at right on the right was taken in May, 2005, near Luling, Caldwell Co., Texas, with a Canon EOS 1D Mark II and EF 300mm F/4 L IS lens. |  |
