The Purplish Fritillary (Boloria chariclea) is a common species across much of Canada and parts of New England, as well as some areas in the Rocky Mountains of the United States. The first 2 shots on this page were taken at Boreas Pass above Breckenridge, Summit Co., Colorado, in July, 2008, at about 12,000 feet elevation. These shots were taken with a Canon EOS 1D Mark III and EF 300mm F/4 L IS lens and 2X extender and Canon 580 flash.
