Pale-spotted Leafwing (Memphis pithyusa)

The Pale-spotted Leafwing (Memphis pithyusa) shown in this shot was at the NABA Butterfly Garden in Hidalgo Co., Texas, in December, 2010. This image was taken with a Canon EOS 1D Mark IV and a Sigma 50-500mm lens and Canon 580 flash. The rear of the wing is in shadow in this image, but it is the best image I could get at the time. This is a fairly rare visitor to south Texas.
