The Falcate Orangetip (Anthocharis midea) is an early season white of parts of the eastern United States. Its range extends into central Texas, which is where the first 2 shots on this page were taken in Travis Co., in March, 2010, with a Canon EOS 1D Mark IV and EF 300mm F/4 L IS lens and 2X extender and Canon 580 flash. This species is a very erratic flier and seldom lands, so although I have seen the species fairly often in early spring, I have just a few images of it.
