The European Skipper (Thymelicus lineola) is a common skipper of the northeastern United States and parts of eastern Canada, but it has been found in areas far west of where it is normally encountered. This species was accidently introduced in Canada in the early 1900s and it is still spreading its range. The top three images on this page were taken at Kettle Creek State Park, Clinton Co., Pennsylvania, in June, 2010, with a Canon EOS 1D Mark IV and an EF 300mm F/4 L IS lens and 2X extender and 580 flash.
The European Skipper on the right was at Buzzard Swamp, Allegheny National Forest, Forest Co., Pennsylvania, in June, 2010. The same photo equipment as the previous images was used.
