The Colorado Alpine (Erebia callias) is a fairly common, high elevation species of the Rocky Mountain regions from areas of Colorado, Utah, Wyoming and Montana. The first shot shown here was taken on Mt. Washburn in Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming, in August, 1999, with a Canon EOS 1N and an EF 300mm F/4 L IS lens and 2X extender and Fuji Sensia 100 film.
The Colorado Alpine in the next 2 shots was at Boreas Pass at 12,000 ft. elevation above Breckenridge, Summit Co., Colorado, in July, 2008. These shots were taken with a Canon EOS 1D Mark III and EF 300mm F/4 L IS lens and 2X extender and Canon 580 flash.
