Ceraunus Blue
Hemiargus ceraunus
The Ceraunus Blue (Hemiargus ceraunus) is a fairly common tiny butterfly ranging from parts of South America northward to Texas and much of the American southwest. The first shot shown here was taken in Kenedy Co., Texas, in June, 2000, with a Canon EOS 1N and an EF 180mm F/3.5 Macro lens and 2X extender and Fuji Sensia 100 film.
The next two images were taken in Austin, Travis Co., Texas, in October, 2009, with a Canon EOS 1D Mark III and an EF 300mm F/4 L IS lens and 2X extender and 580 flash.
The Ceraunus Blue of the right was in Victoria Co., Texas, in November, 2009. This image was taken with a Canon EOS 1D Mark III and an EF 300mm F/4 L IS lens and 2X extender and 580 flash.
The next two shots show a female Ceraunus Blue ovipositing in Dripping Springs, Hays Co., Texas, in August, 2013.
