The Blue-eyed Sailor (Dynamine dyonis) is an uncommon and local butterfly of the Lower Rio Grande Valley of Texas. The female in the top 2 shots shown here was at Santa Ana N.W.R., Hidalgo Co., Texas, in October, 2008. These shots were taken with a Canon EOS 1D Mark III and EF 300mm F/4 L IS lens and 2X extender and Canon 580 flash.
