African Paradise-Flycatcher
Terpsiphone viridis
The African Paradise-Flycatcher (Terpsiphone viridis) is an active and flashy flycatcher encountered across much of southern Africa. The male shown here was in moult as can be seen by the frayed long tail feathers. Newer feathers are growing in. This shot was taken near Nylsvley, Limpopo Province, South Africa. On the right are two shots of a female incubating eggs at a nest in Kruger National Park, Mpumalanga Province, South Africa. The photos shown here were all taken with a Canon EOS 1D Mark II & EF 500mm F/4L IS lens and 1.4X extender in January, 2006.
