The Social Flycatcher (Myiozetetes similis) is a common species of flycatcher from northern Mexico south to Argentina. Within the United States, there are a couple of documented records in far south Texas. The first five images on this page were taken in May, 2007, at Rancho Los Ebanos near Soto La Marina, Tamaulipas, Mexico with a Canon EOS1D Mark II and a 500mm F/4 L IS lens and 2X extender. vSocial Flycatchers may remind North Amwerican birders of a small version of a Great Kiskadee, but the bill is much smaller, the bird is smaller overall, it lacks the rufous tones to the mantle and wings of Great Kiskadee, and the face mask is less dark.
