Rufous-crowned Sparrow
Aimophila ruficeps
The Rufous-crowned Sparrow (Aimophila ruficeps) is a resident of much on the American Southwest and parts of western Mexico. The shots shown here were taken at Caprocks Canyon State Park, Briscoe Co., Texas, in December, 1998, with a Canon EOS 1N and EF 600mm F/4 L lens and 1.4X extender on Fuji Sensia.
The bird at right was photographed in August, 1998, at Fort Davis, Jeff Davis Co., Texas, with the same equipment as the previous shots.
The Rufous-crowned Sparrow at right was photographed at Palo Duro Canyon State Park, Randall Co., Texas, in November, 2005 with a Canon EOS 1D Mark II and EF 600mm F/4 L IS lens.
The next three shots of Rufous-crowned Sparrow were taken near Austin, Travis Co., Texas, in April, 2007, with the same gear as above.
