Salpinctes obsoletus
The Rock Wren (Salpinctes obsoletus) is a resident from southwestern Canada south through the western United States, through proper habitat in Mexico, all the way to Costa Rica. It usually prefers dry, rocky hillsides. The top image here was taken at Big Bend National Park, Brewster Co., Texas, in December, 1992, with a Canon T-90 and FD 400mm F/4.5 lens on Kodachrome 200 film.
