Vireo plumbeus
The Plumbeous Vireo (Vireo plumbeus) is a drab colored vireo which nests in much of the Rocky Mountains of the United States. Formerly considered a race of the Solitary Vireo, it is now recognized as a full species. The first shot on this page was taken in the Davis Mountains of west Texas in June, 2005, with a Canon EOS 1D Mark II and EF 600mm F/4 L IS lens and 2X extender.
The next 4 shots of Plumbeous Vireo were taken at Coyote Creek State Park, Mora Co., New Mexico, in June, 2007, with a Canon EOS 1D Mark III and EF 600mm F/4 L IS lens and 2X extender.
The Plumbeous Vireo shown here was in the Huachuca Mountains, Cochise Co., Arizona, in may, 2008. This shot was taken with a Canon EOS 1D Mark III and EF 600mm F/4 L IS lens and 1.4X extender.
The next two shots were taken in May, 2008, in the Chiricahua Mountains of Cochise Co., Arizona, with the same gear described above.
