Palm Warbler
Setophaga palmarum
The Palm Warbler (Setophaga palmarum) nests across much of Canada and winters in the southeastern United States and parts of the Caribbean. It can be commonly seen in Florida in fall and winter, which is where the two shots shown here were taken. The first image was taken on Sanibel Island, Lee Co., Florida in November, 2006. This shot was taken with a Canon EOS 1D Mark II and EF 500mm F/4 L IS lens and 1.4X extender. The next shot was in nearby Fort Myers, Lee Co., Florida, also in November, 2006, with the same equipment.
Palm Warblers certainly seem to perch on man-made things a lot! This one was on a barbed wire fence along the edge of Lake Kissimmee, Osceola Co., Florida, in February, 2007. It was shot with the same gear as above.
