Northern Pintail
Anas acuta
The Northern Pintail (Anas acuta) is a widespread duck across all of North America. In general it breeds across much of the northern United States and all of Canada, and winters along both coasts and much of the southern U.S. and Mexico. The male shown at right was a recent arrival at a wintering area at Austin, Travis Co., Texas, in November, 2005. It was photographed with a Canon EOS 1D Mark II and EF 600mm F/4 L IS lens and 2X extender See below for more shots.
