Mountain Chickadee
Poecile gambeli
The Mountain Chickadee (Poecile gambeli) is a widespread resident in the Rocky Mountains from Northern Canada to the American Southwest. The first two images here were taken in the Davis Mountains, Jeff Davis Co., Texas, in June, 2005. These shots are digital captures with a Canon EOS 1D Mark II and EF 600mm F/4 L IS lens and 2X extender. This bird is entering its post-breeding moult and is a little ratty looking.
The next 9 images of Mountain Chickadee were taken at Breckenridge, Summit Co., Colorado, in June, 2007, with a Canon EOS 1D Mark III and EF 500mm F/5 L IS lens and 2X extender.
The Mountain Chickadee shown here was also in Breckenridge, Summit Co., Colorado, but this shot was taken in July, 2008.
