The Long-tailed Jaeger (Stercorarius longicaudus) breeds across the Canadian arctic as well as in much of Alaska, Greenland, and elsewhere in the far north. It is a predatory seabird that will often chase gulls and other birds in an effort to rob them of food. It is a graceful flier and a joy to watch. The three shots here were taken around Nome, Alaska, in May and June, 2012.
