The Least Auklet (Aethia pusilla) is a northern alcid that breeds on some islands off the coast of Alaska and into Siberia. It is a small species, scarcely larger than a sparrow that may occur in huge numbers near some breeding colonies on rocky beaches and hillsides. The shots on this page show Least Auklets at Gambell, St. Lawrence Island, Alaska, in May, 2012. These images were taken with a Canon EOS 1D Mark IV and an EF 500mm F/4 L IS lens and 2X extender.
