Lazuli Bunting
Passerina amoena
The Lazuli Bunting (Passerina amoena) is a summer resident across a wide area of the western United States and south west Canada. The species winters in Mexico. It is a beautiful little bunting with a loud and lively song. The first six images here were taken at John Martin Reservoir State Park, Bent Co., Colorado, in June, 2007, with a Canon EOS 1D Mark III and EF 600mm F/4 L IS lens and 2X extender.
The next two shots of a male Lazuli Bunting were taken along the Green River in Daggett Co., Utah, in June, 2007, with the same camera gear as previously described.
