Illustrating some of the behavior of Chihuahuan Raven (Corvus cryptoleucus), the first two shots on the right show one of these birds chasing and harassing a Ferruginous Hawk near Texline, Dallam Co., Texas, in January, 2011. This species occurs across much of west Texas and New Mexico and may be found in desert habitats as well as agricultural areas of the state. Often seen in flocks, especially in the winter, it is a gregarious species. These two shots were taken with a Canon EOS 1D Mark IV and an EF 500mm F/4 L IS lens and 1.4X extender.
