The Bluethroat (Luscinia svecica) is an old world flycatcher in the family Muscicapidae. Within the Americas, the species only breeds in northern Alaska and a small area in the northern Yukon. In May and June, 2012, I was able to see several of these birds in the area around Nome, Alaska. I was able to get a few shots, but I found the bird quite skittish and difficult to photograph. The three images shown here were cropped more than I would have preferred but I decided to post a few images anyway. It is a beautiful species.
