Coccyzus erythropthalmus
The Black-billed Cuckoo (Coccyzus erythropthalmus) is a nesting bird of the northeastern third of the United States and much of southern Canada. The species migrates south to South America during the winter. The bird shown here was a spring migrant at South Padre Island, Cameron Co., Texas, in April, 1997. The image was taken with a Canon T-90 and Sigma 500mm F/4.4 lens and 1.4X extender on Fuji Sensia film.
