The White Tern (Gygis alba) is a tropical species found across tropical oceans of the world. This tern is well known for laying its eggs on a bare limb or perhaps on a cliff edge. The species does not build a nest. In August, 2012, on a family trip in Hawaii I was happy to find several White Terns flying around the grounds of Iolani Palace in Honolulu, Hawaii. I was able to take a few marginal photos of these graceful birds with a Canon EOS 1D Mark IV and an EF 300mm F/4 L IS lens and 1.4X extender.
