The Hawaiian Gallinule (Gallinula galeata sandvicensis) is a subspecies of the Common Gallinule (Gallinula galeata). In Hawaii, it is widespread on Oahu and Kauai. The four shots shown here were taken in a small canal in Kailua, Oahu, in August, 2012, with a Canon EOS 1D Mark IV and an EF 300mm F/4 L IS lens and 1.4X extender. This subspecies is considered endangered.
