Catherpes mexicanus
The Canyon Wren (Catherpes mexicanus) is a resident species across much of the western United States and most of Mexico. During spring and summer its loud, cascading, whistled song, is one of the most familiar sounds a person hears when within its range and habitat. The first six shots here were taken near Concan, Uvalde Co., Texas, in April, 2007, with a Canon EOS 1D Mark II and EF 500mm F/4 L IS lens.
The image at the right was taken near Vanderpool, Bandera Co., Texas, in April, 2007, with the same gear described previously.
