The Blue-headed Vireo (Vireo solitarius) was formerly known as Solitary Vireo. The species nests across parts of the eastern United States and much of Canada. It winters in parts of the southeastern United States and southward into Central America. The bird shown in the top 2 shots here was a spring migrant near Austin, Travis Co., Texas, in May, 2008. These shots were taken with a Canon EOS 1D Mark III and EF 600mm F/4 L IS lens and 1.4X extender.
