Black-and-white Warbler
Mniotilta varia
The Black-and-white Warbler (Mniotilta varia) is a fairly common nesting bird across much of the eastern United States and parts of Canada. The male shown in the top two images here was a territorial bird at a tract of Balcones Canyonlands N.W.R., Williamson Co., Texas, in April, 2007. These shots were taken with a Canon EOS 1D Mark II and EF 600mm F/4 L IS lens and 2X extender.
The adult male Black-and-white Warbler shown here was near Vanderpool, Bandera Co., Texas, in April, 2008. This shot was taken with a Canon EOS 1D Mark III and EF 600mm F/4 L IS lens and 1.4X extender.
