| The Bank Swallow (Riparia riparia) is a resident nesting bird across most of the United States and Canada. Like other swallows, this species forages on the wing in order to catch flying insects. It winters in South America. The immature bird shown here was perched on a fence wire at Alice N.W.R., Ramsey Co., North Dakota, in August, 1999.
