El Triunfo Cloud Forest
El Triunfo Cloud Forest. The El Triunfo Preserve is a cloud forest and buffer zone on the Pacific slope of the Sierra Madre de Chiapas in Mexico. This is the home of the Horned Guan and a number of other incredible birds. I will display a few scenic images of that region on this page. This was just one of those visual things that caught my eye as I hiked down a trail through the El Triunfo Cloud Forest. This vine was growing over the trail with these wonderful purple/red flowers that were magically backlit by the morning sun. The shot was taken in March, 2003, with a Canon D60 and EF 300mm F/4 L IS lens.
The next two shots at right, also in March, 2003, show views of the cloud forest at El Triunfo. Tree ferns can be 50 feet tall and some of the trees are well over 150 feet tall. It is a very impressive forest. The 2nd shot shows a view looking down into a deep canyon from a trail.
