| The Willet (Tringa semipalmata) breeds in wetlands in the northern Great Plains as well as many areas of the Gulf and Atlantic coastal areas of the United States. It winters commonly on all our seacoasts. It is a large gray shorebird best identified by its striking black and white wings when in flight. The first 4 shots of a Willet in flight were taken at Bowdoin N.W.R., Phillips Co., Montana, in June, 2007, with a Canon EOS 1D Mark III and EF 500mm F/4 L IS lens and 1.4X extender. |  |
