Ross's Goose
Chen rossii
The Ross's Goose (Chen rossii) breeds in the tundra regions of northern Canada and Alaska and winters across a wide area of the United States. Like the very similar Snow Goose, The Ross's Goose is white with black primaries and can be a little difficult to tell apart for bird watchers. The Ross's Goose is somewhat smaller than the Snow Goose and it has a more stubby bill. There are a few shots of Ross's Geese and Snow Geese together here. The first 4 shots on this page were taken at Bosque del Apache N.W.R., Socorro Co., New Mexico, in November, 2009, with a Canon EOS 1D Mark III and an EF 800mm F/4 L IS lens.
The next ten images show various Ross's Geese at Bosque del Apache N.W.R., Socorro Co., New Mexico, in November, 2011. All these shots were taken with a Canon EOS 1D Mark IV and an EF 800mm F/5.6 L IS lens.
