The Red-breasted Merganser (Mergus serrator) breeds across much of Canada as well as some areas of the northern United States. The species winters in many of the southern states as well as Mexico. The first three shots on this page of a male (first 2 shots) and a female (3rd shot) were taken on South Padre Island, Cameron Co., Texas, in December, 2010, with a Canon EOS 1D Mark IV and an EF 800mm F/5.6 L IS lens. | |
