Puerto Rican Emerald
Chlorostilbon maugaeus
The Puerto Rican Emerald (Chlorostilbon maugaeus) is a tiny hummingbird of the mountain regions of the island, but it can also occur along the southwestern coast. This bird was photographed in July, 1998, on the grounds of Hacienda Juanita's near the town of Maricao. It was photographed with a Canon T90 & FD400mm F4.5 lens and a 50mm extension tube on Fuji Sensia 100. A Fresnel flash was also used. The photo was shot hand-held with the camera and lens on a BushHawk shoulder mount.
