| The Tennessee Clubtail (Gomphus sandrius), which is a Tennessee endemic, is certainly one of the most localized dragonflies in the United States. The species is currently only known from five counties in central Tennessee, but it may be locally common in some spots. This species is visually extremely similar to Pronghorn Clubtail, but the appendages are different and the ranges of the the two species do not overlap. The first 9 shots on this page were taken along the Middle Fork Stones River, south of Murfreesboro, Rutherford Co., Tennessee, in June, 2010, with a Canon EOS 1D Mark III and EF 300mm F/4 L IS lens and 2X extender and Canon 580 flash.
