The Sedge Sprite (Nehalennia irene) mainly occurs in the northern United States and parts of Canada. The male and female shown in the top 2 images here were digital shots in Houston Co., Minnesota in July, 2004, with a Canon EOS 1D Mark II and EF 180 mm F/3.5 mm macro lens with a 2X extender and 550 EX flash.
The next 2 shots of a male Sedge Sprite were taken at Buzzard Swamp, Allegheny National Forest, Forest Co., Pennsylvania, in June, 2010. These shots were taken with a Canon EOS 1D Mark IV and an EF 300mm F/4 L IS lens and 2X extender and 580 flash.
