| The Royal River Cruiser (Macromia taeniolata) is a member of the Cruiser (Macromiidae) family of dragonflies and occurs in the the eastern half of the United States. River Cruisers are distinctive, but the various species may look superficially similar. Compare the Royal River Cruiser with the Swift and Bronzed River Cruisers. The Royal shows a partially broken yellow ring on the dorsal side of abdominal segment number two and a slightly divided yellow patch on the dorsal side of segment seven. It also lacks yellow on the frons. The individual shown here was a digital capture in Austin, Travis Co., Texas in June 2004.
