The Paiute Dancer (Argia alberta) is a damselfly of parts of the central and western United States, occurring from western Iowa to Oregon and south to parts of Arizona, New Mexico and Texas. It occupies areas of sedges and other marshy habitats along slow moving streams, as well as lakes and ponds. The first eleven images on this page show Paiute Dancers in Cottonwood Canyon, Comanche National Grasslands, Baca Co., Colorado, in July, 2011. These shots were taken with a Canon EOS 1D Mark IV and a Sigma 50-500mm lens and Canon 580 flash. The first two shots show males.
