The Painted Skimmer (Libellula semifasciata) is an uncommon skimmer of the eastern U.S. ranging west to the prairies. The male here was a digital capture in June, 2003, in the Angelina National Forest in Jasper Co., Texas with a Canon 10D and EF 70-200 mm F2.8 L IS lens with a 2X extender and 550 EX flash. The Painted Skimmer here was perched along the edge of a pitcher plant bog. |
