| The Ornate Pennant (Celithemis ornata) is sometimes called Faded Pennant in some references. The species occurs from New Jersey southward to Florida then west to far east Texas. In Texas the species may be hard to find but it is known to occur in several eastern counties. The first 11 images on this page were taken with a Canon EOS 1D Mark III and EF 300mm F/4 l IS lens and 2X extender and 580 flash. These shots were taken in Jasper Co., Texas, in June, 2009. The first 6 shots show a mature male while the following 5 shots show a younger male. The species, especially younger ones, is somewhat similar to Amanda's Pennant so care is needed in separating the two in the field. |  |
