Needham's Skimmer
Libellula needhami

The Needham's Skimmer (Libellula needhami) is a common dragonfly of the Atlantic coast of the U.S., through Florida, and west along the Gulf coast to South Texas. It is primarily a coastal species but may often be found well inland. The shots of a worn female shown here were taken in Hidalgo Co., Texas, in August, 2005, with a Canon EOS 1D Mark II and EF 300mm F/4 L IS lens and 2X extender and 580 flash.
