The Green-faced Clubtail (Gomphus viridifrons) occurs from parts of Alabama and Georgia north through the Appalachians to New York, Pennsylvania, and Ohio, then northwest into Wisconsin and Minnesota. It is a dragonfly of clear, flowing rivers and streams. Its face is pale green in color with two very fine lines that are difficult to see. It may show a small amount of yellow on the club. The top five shots on this page were taken along the Chattooga River which forms the boundary between Rabun Co., Georgia and Oconee Co., South Carolina, in May, 2011, with a Canon EOS 1D Mark IV and a Sigma 50-500mm lens and Canon 580 flash.
